We help you stay healthyThere’s wisdom in the old adage, "If you’ve got your health, you’ve got everything." At our independent living communities, we’re committed to providing programs and services* that help you to be an active partner in your own health. While you will continue to see your personal physician and dentist regularly, many of our senior living communities schedule visits by health professionals. For example, visiting podiatrists may be able to check out that arch that’s been bothering you so you can get back to your walking regimen. Three out of four people develop foot problems as they age, so you’re not alone. And as you get older, it can get harder to see warning signs of diabetes or circulation problems in your feet. At several of our communities, visiting nurses check blood pressure, and dispense flu shots just before the onset of flu season. Immunizations aren’t just for kids! Many of our communities also offer health fairs where you can pick up brochures about health topics and talk to representatives of community health programs. Our guided exercise programs – such as chair yoga, chair volleyball and tai chi – help maintain strength and balance. Participants in our walking clubs so enjoy the conversation that they don’t know where the time went. Our minds need exercise, too, so many of our communities provide "mental gymnastics" through legacy development sessions and current events discussions. * Available at Campus Commons, Winding Commons, Hilltop Commons and Roseville Commons only. |
